Burna Boy, a prominent figure in the African music scene, continues to lead the way in spreading African music globally with his unique style and captivating performances. A typical example of such is his recent performance at the Grammys.

In a significant development, the City of Boston has declared March 2nd as Burna Boy Day, marking the first official celebration on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024.

Councilor Ruthzee Louijeune announced the news in a press release, citing Burna Boy’s significant contributions to promoting African culture and values through his music. The press release also acknowledged Burna Boy’s efforts in advocating for social justice, representation, and equality.

Boston recognizes the substantial contributions of Nigerians, the largest African immigrant community in the United States and Massachusetts, in enriching the nation’s cultural tapestry.
